Pieces of the Story

Hanna Davis is a junior studying Worship Arts at Trevecca Nazarene University.

I have been in love with Jesus for as long as I can remember. As I matured, so did my relationship with Lord, and just like any relationship, there were ups and downs and growing seasons. The more I let go of my ideas of what God is “supposed to be like,” the more I got to trade pride for humility and wonder. There is so much freedom in surrendering to the One who knows us. It was really difficult for me to accept God's love, as I tend to overthink things. I also lean towards isolation and self-sufficiency, so the idea that I didn't have to do a thing in order to receive God's love was a tough concept for me to accept. How could it be that someone would know me fully and love me fully? The vulnerability that Christ displayed inspires me to embrace invitation and community. As I draw near to others I find drawing near to God in the same. I am continuously amazed as I get lost in the mysteries of divine Love and find much assurance in Worship. Worship sparks purpose for me, and calls me to remember with the Church as we practice pouring out for the world as Christ did.

The Holy Spirit guides me and brings me peace, which has been a huge part of my story because I struggle with anxiety. I am brought back to rest when I root myself in the story of the One who cares for us. The present moment is so holy and it reminds me that our identity is to simply be known. Embraced by love, and renewed by Christ, I find that my joy and my strength come only from God. I wish to practice faithfulness to God and because I definitely fail, grace is always at the forefront of my mind. Without grace I would not be here, and I am so, so grateful to be here. Thank you for allowing me to share some of my story! May you find rest and wonder as you encounter the God-with-us in the present moment ❤️
